Bay Area Scout Team Marine Homeschool

A Weekly Nature Immersion Course for Homeschoolers

The Life of a Mariner

For thousands of years humans have learned by the feel of the briny wind and water on their face , the bristly texture of rope smoothly running through hands, the smell of the forest wet and moist after the first rains, and by stories spoken of the land where they live. Teens today are often bored with what they are told is possible. Young adults need to be doing things that are real, concrete and rich in skills. Skills based in the woods and sea. They need to encounter situations that excite and push them to problem solve within a group. Teens want their comfort zones shaken.

Join the Mariners Guild

This is our most intensive youth program yet. Scout Team Marine will educate and push teens in the time-honored classroom of the woods and the bay with intensive wilderness awareness skills and practical maritime skills. Students will work as a team to make decisions, complete group projects and overcome obstacles. These team skills will be honed and put to the test in live action strategy games throughout the course.

Our Teaching Philosophy

We believe that your sixth sense is a muscle, and the more you exercise it, the stronger it is. Scout Team Marine will teach students to trust their gut instincts and think on their feet. Challenges will be given with little warning to keep students alert. We believe the mind mirrors the body, so we must keep ourselves fit. A short but intense routine of exercise and stretching will start us off each morning.
