A Camp for Wizards

Join us in the realms of the Golden Gate, where your child begins their magical education at Fog Mountain Academy. As with all Trackers role-playing adventure camps, the School of Magic blends collaborative fantastical storytelling with the highest caliber of outdoor skill instruction.

Choose a shadow name…

The ways of magic are strange and mysterious. Develop a new persona as you explore the Realms, taking part in our epic storyline.

Carve a wand…

Every mage must learn real, practical skills alongside their mystical ones. Campers learn the ways of wood carving and knife safety, wilderness tracking and stealth, meditation, herbology, and more. These skills lay the groundwork for the magic we teach. Every student will learn what they need to craft their own wand to take home at the end of the week.

Determine our fate…

Every week's adventure is a unique, standalone chapter in the ongoing saga of the mages of Fog Mountain. Some weeks might see students meeting ancient nature spirits, or entangled with fae courtly intrigue, or facing off with dark sorcerers. The story continues all summer long at our School of Magic, Wizards Academy, and Realms of the Golden Gate camps. Returning campers can keep their characters from week to week.

So come to Fog Mountain, and begin your education in the ways of magic!

Option: Realm of the Dark Arts Grade 4-5 Only - Edgy Camp

Campers enrolled in our Realm of the Dark Arts option will find themselves tapping into an old and mysterious power! In this class students learn unspeakable curses and spells along with protective wards and sigils for defense. Wizard battles move from defense towards more powerful offensive magical strikes.  All campers practice meditation to strengthen themselves against the temptation of the dark path, but students beware! They may be recruited to sow havoc and chaos in the mainstream studies of The Trackers School of Magic.  (Please note: This camp is part of Trackers's Edgy Camp Curriculum where we explore challenging and complex concepts, all with a focus on fun and adventure. Please weigh if this program is a good fit for your family.)

Our Philosophy for Learning & Living

A Smile

We help children to feel like that group of kids wandering country backyards 50 years ago: independent, tired, muddy, wet and happy from the woods and wild. We are acutely aware of full and real hazards of the out of doors after years of working in environmental education. We try to move away from the highly structured and limiting tolerances of conventional environmental education while keeping kids truly safe but not encapsulated from, or phobic of nature. We are deep patriots to the value of offering guided yet very free and transparent experiences for kids. We believe it is okay to be thirsty at times, cold at times, and wet at times. It builds empathy and care for the gifts of life. It fosters adventure and sincere accomplishment. We also believe it is critical to feel supported and cared for as they truly explore their passion and responsibility. And through a healthy life immersed in nature, they test the limits and great potential of the often untapped physical and emotional resiliency they possess
