Field Intensive Spend 4-days and 3-nights exploring the core study of Homesteading Crafts. In this intensive field expedition the Trackers Wilders Guild recreates the story of self-sufficiency and living with the land. Each day we go about homestead chores such as milking goats, baking, making cheese and tending to the bees and other livestock. By cultivating mushrooms and tending to the micro life within the soil, we use no dig methods to grow our food. Wonderous feasts are created in our Wilders wood fired kitchen, along with preservation of wild and self-grown foods for the winter. All this, plus we get students weaving and working diligently in the fiber arts.

Spend 4-days living on the edge of the wilderness. The day to day livelihood of the Trackers Homestead is your opportunity to get hands on experience with small scale animal husbandry, sustenance gardening, cooking and literally living by a wood fire.

The Hunter-Gatherers Garden

We sow and plant our seeds without cutting into the Earth. All our gardens are no-dig beds where we work with the natural processes of the soil while helping plants do what they do best, grow! Everything has a turn and plays a part in the Hunter-Gatherers Garden, animals return to the health of the soil. And while we recognize the limits of our modern landscape, we address no-fence and no-grain methods of raising livestock; using the lost art of shepherding to let them forage and range with more natural rhythms.

Shelter, Water, Fire and Food

The four fundamentals of survival are transformed into an a way of life through homesteading. The methodical spinning and weaving of fiber arts become a meditation for this simpler life. Everything we do revolves around how our water healthfully flows on the land. All this and we spend hours working by a wood fired oven to slowly cook and preserve our food.
