Regional Director - Description & Requirements

Trackers Earth outdoor camps and programs seeks a Bay Area Regional Director to help us save the world. This leadership position helps fulfill our mission to:

These high adventure experiences teach lessons of resilience, competency, and compassion with all our families, students, and staff. We seek to be ambassadors for a culture that needs to exist. As Regional Director for Trackers Earth in the Bay Area, you lead the way:

You are supremely dedicated to risk management. You make this your first priority. You are relentless in always bringing risk management practices to the forefront. You excitedly audit our choices and actions, focusing on the well-being of the people and the land we serve.

You are a highly effective communicator. You engage in community outreach that develops and maintains relationships with key clients, land managers, community members, and other stakeholders. This also includes following up on parent surveys and addressing essential questions and needs.

You are a leader to our community of dedicated educators. You work directly with your staff and collaborate with the leadership team of Trackers across all regions. You lead by example, providing guidance and direction to our team of educators and managers.

You steward our programs and facilities. You oversee our camps, programs, and events in the Bay Area. You are innovative and also understand the value of thoughtful maintenance. You hone operations with an obsessive eye to detail, always improving the experience of our guests.

You are an innovator who serves our community and the planet. You help expand a livelihood that cares for all our staff and the diverse students we serve. You can run a budget, market, obtain permits, hire staff, find potential sites and facilities, and more.

You are a strategist for our greater mission and vision. You can blend seemingly unrelated tasks into a symphony of growth. You plan ahead while remaining flexible and adaptive to the now. You do this to improve our organization for our community, nature, and our shared future.

Programs & Curriculum

Our youth programs keep kids active outdoors in our day and overnight camps, after school, homeschool, and long-term weekend mentoring. Our adult programs train leaders in outdoor and forest school education. Our curriculum is founded in and taught by teachers of traditional and modern outdoor skills. This includes but is never limited to:

  • Wilderness survival, bushcraft and nature awareness
  • Farm craft, wild plants, and homesteading
  • Boating, paddle sports, and fishing
  • Biking, rock climbing, and wilderness adventuring
  • Woodworking, blacksmithing, and a myriad of other artisan crafts
  • Work with fairies, elves and mostly friendly dragons to tell stories in nature

Skills & Experience Desired

  • 5 year minimum of experience in outdoor education, camp, or related field, including at least 3 years of management experience
  • A proven track record in positively and effectively managing a diverse community of employees
  • Ability to build strong team relationships and guide staff to consistently improve performance and grow professionally over time
  • Proven experience crafting and successfully executing program budgets
  • Proven experience evaluating program execution, including setting and assessing outcomes/benchmarks, staff performance, and student satisfaction
  • Familiarity with wider summer camp and/or outdoor education industry best practices in staff supervision, marketing, program design, etc.
  • Proven experience in proactive risk management planning and evaluation
  • Exceptional consistency, reliability, and punctuality: You will be the clock by which all others are set on our team
  • Comfort using various technological tools to collaborate with local and cross-regional colleagues including methods such as phone, email, Google Apps, Slack, carrier pigeon, etc.
  • Must have a current valid driver's license
