Apprenticeship

Make new friends and share adventures while learning outdoor leadership skills. With dedication and hard work, an Apprenticeship leads to life-long learning. The Rangers Apprenticeship covers the following subjects:

Wilderness Survival & Forest Craft Learn skills of shelter building, lighting fire with no matches, and foraging for wild plants while immersed in the arts of wilderness survival. Develop focus with archery and practice woodworking for forest craft.

Tracking & Wayfinding Journey into the amazing world of wildlife while training to become a master tracker. Hone your orienteering and navigation skills, as you follow the trails of deer, elk, fox, and more.

Stealth & Invisibility Train in our unique Rangers martial art of stealth and invisibility, the Curriculum of Shadows. Find your grit and resilience. Rise to any challenge, following an ancient path that teaches lessons of awareness, strategy, and leadership.

Our Apprenticeship Mentors are experienced educators teaching authentic skills. They inspire positive growth through connection to community, nature, and outdoor lore.

How It Works

Apprentice Training Weekends Typically 1 weekend a month, Fall - Spring
During these monthly trainings, Apprentices join a team of friends learning with expert Mentors. For flexibility, we offer different schedule options. See below for a full class schedule.

Grades 2-5

9 field days Typically 1 Saturday or Sunday a month, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
See below for a full class schedule.

The Trackers Thing (Þing) Early May
The Þing (Thing), from an ancient word for “assembly,” is the final field weekend of the program. Apprentices come together from across the region for an epic Trackers gathering!

Family Opportunity

+ Graduation Day May, Single Saturday
Parents, Guardians, and the entire family join Apprentices and Mentors for a community celebration of what we learned in our year.

+ Optional Community Programs Dates Vary
Apprentices and their immediate family get free admission to Trackers Campfire, Family Archery Range, and other Community Events.
