Realms Homeschool is a live-action role-playing (LARP) adventure that fosters curiosity, creativity, and connection. Our expert Realms Guides act as mentors to youth and teens, playing in small teams with a band of fellow homeschoolers. Kids co-create our epic role-playing game while learning fantastic nature-based skills.

Our Educational Philosophy

Realms role-playing curriculum complements homeschooling families. Our unique educational philosophy focuses on creating a deeper connection to community, nature, and social-emotional well-being.

  • Friends & Community: Create characters while adventuring as heroes and building social support within your small team. We teach skills that empower everyone to contribute both in the story and throughout real life.
  • Multi-Generational: Our mentors begin with our core role-playing curriculum, weaving new story elements that follow the interests of our cohorts. We provide opportunities for leadership roles that foster multi-generational service.
  • Natural World: We get outdoors to thoughtfully increase a child's comfort and adaptability. We learn skills that foster connection and caretaking for the natural world.
  • Awareness: We practice being present with our peers and environment. We connect to how a child's unique gifts can inspire them to care for their community and nature.

Fantastic Nature Skills

Adventuring outdoors creates an incredible story based on the seasons. In fall and spring, we often journey to the wilderness to quest out in nature. During the winter, we spend part of our time in our Artisans Studios making crafts and tools essential for our quests. Through weekly adventures, you build your character and learn the following skills:

Character Creation & Role-Playing Develop your character. Choose to become an Elf, Wizard, Ranger, and more! Level up in the game of Realms by accumulating experience points with essential outdoor skills.

Nature Based Skills Learn stealth, archery, and wilderness survival to stay safe on your journey. Let animals, plants, trees, and other forces of nature be your guides. Develop authentic skills of animal tracking and nature awareness.

Questing Leadership Co-create the game. Help build upon an ongoing saga where each day is a new adventure. Weave these tales into an epic year-long story, team-building with your friends. Remember, the fate of the Realms is in your hands!

Our Team

The Realms Homeschool team features some of our best Trackers staff. They are Mentors, guiding each day to help every cohort grow in their connection to each other, community, and nature.

  • Expertise in mentoring, role-playing, and outdoor skills.
  • Low student-to-guide ratio facilitating personal, team-based learning.
  • Background checked with First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Trained in outdoor safety and Realms and Trackers Earth curriculum.

Our Place

Our Outdoor Homeschool will be conducted at Camp Herms, regardless of check in and out location, or transports by buses and vans to other wilderness locations specific to that days activities. We might visit local nature parks or explore nearby waterways for fishing and to learn about marine ecology.
